BPCC organized CityU ESG Seminar

The Business Proposal and Competition Club (BPCC) organized a CityU ESG Seminar on 10 November 2023, with Dr Angus Yip, the Founding Chairman of International Chamber of Sustainable Development, as the speaker. Around 40 CB students attended the event to learn about the latest ESG-related business opportunities.

With the climate problem and the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a surge in interest in ESG in recent years. ESG has evolved into a mainstream investing strategy and a priority among the world's leading business actors. As a result, BPCC held a seminar to enhance students' awareness in the area and prepare them to compete in ESG-related case competitions.

Dr Yip, a seasoned banking & finance professional with more than 8 years of ESG reporting consultancy experience, discussed the ESG trend in business imbued with real-life examples. The event provided students with an overview of the ESG industry including various terms and theories developed by world-renowned researchers and was much appreciated by attendees.

Anna Zhou, BBA Marketing Year 3, said, “It was an excellent opportunity to learn more about ESG and its related concepts, updating us on the latest developments in related industries.”

Zhafran Rafiedli, BBA Information Management Year 2, said, “The ESG event was a resounding success, providing us with valuable insights, enhancing our knowledge of the industry, and fueling our determination to understand the importance of sustainability.”
