The BPCC CityU Case Competition, jointly organized by the Business Proposal and Competition Club (BPCC) (a student society under the College of Business), and supported by the Knowledge Transfer Office at CityU and Clinique HK, was held on 28th March at CityU.
A total of 185 students formed in about 40 teams, took part in this year competition and worked on a new product marketing campaign for the cosmetics brand Clinique. Participants were required to analyze the current trends and formulate a sound and feasible promotion plan for Clinique. Not only did the winning teams display good marketing knowledge and analytical skills, but they also suggested creative strategies for the brand.
The panel judges - Ms Cythia Chan, Senior Marketing Manager and Ms Kelly Fung, Senior Product Manager of Clinique, Dr Zachary Leung, Assistant Professor of the Department of Management Sciences, Dr Raine Ng, Deputy Programme Leader of BBA Marketing and Instructor, and Mr Thomson Lee, Senior Technology Transfer Officer of the Knowledge Transfer Office, selected the three award winning teams after the final presentations.
Vickie Chong, BBA Marketing, from the Champion team said, “The competition provided me a better outlook for the real business world, in particular the cosmetics industry. Our team went through a lot of brainstorming and problem-solving discussions, before coming up with the solutions.”
Cecilia Mok, President of the Business Proposal and Competition Club, felt honored to organize this case competition together with Clinique. “We got some new insights in how to run successful campaigns from both Clinique and the peer participants.”
The CityU Case Competition aims to bring together students at CityU to investigate and analyze specific business cases for corporations. Through participating in the competition, students can improve their analytical competence, problem solving abilities, and presentation skills, etc.
